Mesothelioma Lawsuit Filed Against General Gasket Corp and Honeywell
A mesothelioma lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a man who alleges he developed mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos from his parents and from his job. The lawsuit was filed in 22nd Judicial Circuit Court in St. Louis against General Gasket Corporation and Honeywell International Inc., Case No. 1822-CC00796
According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff was exposed to asbestos during his 2000 to 2016 career and while he was residing with his parents. He alleges that the exposure came from asbestos fibers on or in products made, sold, and distributed by the defendants.
Lawsuit Allegations
The plaintiff alleges that GGC and Honeywell were negligent when they used asbestos fibers for certain products despite there being adequate substitutes. The lawsuit claims the companies failed to warn of the dangers of asbestos exposure or provide adequate instruction for those who worked with or around the asbestos.
Asbestos fibers are known to lodge in lung tissue where, over time, scarring and inflammation develop damaging cells which can allow cancer tumor to grow. Unfortunately, over 3,000 people are diagnosed with mesothelioma each year in the U.S. alone.
The plaintiff is seeking a jury trial and compensatory damages of an amount greater than $50,000 as well as any further relief the court deems just.
