GM’s History of Profits Before People
In just the past few years, General Motors has recalled millions of vehicles for safety risks and paid nearly a billion in fines to the government for their role in the deaths and injuries of far too many.
In 2014, General Motors recalled 1.7 million vehicles that didn’t deploy airbags if the driver had too many keys on the keychain, and in 2015, the company recalled another 1.4 million vehicles for oil leak fire risks. In September 2015, General Motors agreed to pay $900 million in fines for faulty ignition switches that caused 273 injuries and 124 deaths.
Our attorneys believe that some 1999 to 2006 GM trucks came equipped with airbags that do not deploy upon impact. General Motors has yet to take responsibility for airbags that did not perform as expected.
